I think I can honestly say I am a good librarian. I enjoy helping people discover new books, whether fiction or non-fiction. I don't dislike my co-workers. I don't dread each workday. But after nearly a decade of low pay and increasing public misconceptions about what the library is, I am beginning to seriously question whether I should remain. I don't know whether it is my calling, and I won't know unless I take some big risks and try new things instead.
