On one hand, once you release your ideas into the wild, you lose the authority to dictate what others may do with those ideas in their own minds and with their own property. I know this runs contrary to our culture of copyrights and patents, but I cannot reconcile the contradiction in claiming ownership over a non-scarce ephemeral idea in order to restrict how others may use their own scarce physical property. See Stephan Kinsella's Against Intellectual Property for a more complete argument on the subject.

On the other hand, plagiarism is indicative of a deeply dishonest character. In the academic world, it shows disregard for the process and intent of learning. Professionally, it is self-aggrandizement at the expense of others for unearned rewards. On the internet, it shows you are lazy and stupid, because the source is often readily discovered and timestamped. Doubly so on a blockchain like ours.

I am especially perplexed by people here and on the old chain who blatantly copy/paste for fun and profit, and then get their knickers in a twist when they are called out.
