I think a subtle distinction needs to be made.

1. Those who think life should be easier, so other people owe them something.

2. Those who think life should be easier because type 1 above needs to get out of their way.

This is probably oversimplification, and people in group 2 likely stray into group 1 attitude more often than they would admit under certain circumstances, like farmers chasing subsidies or corporations chasing bailouts. But it is still worth considering, perhaps.
