It's been longer than I thought since my last installment in this series. This new channel recommendation is similar to the last, but instead of centering on the northeastern US, Sidetrack Adventures largely covers the American southwest.
Are you considering a road trip into Nevada, Arizona, and California? Curious about what remains along the famous Route 66? Interested in ghost towns, mining, Native American history, or westward expansion? I can't recommend this channel enough!
These are just a few of his relatively recent videos, but he has a solid library to browse and discover all manner of curiosities.
He posts new videos weekly, and while production value is a bit unpolished compared to professional documentarians, the content is engaging, and it feels more real to walk through the desert and see through his GoPro. He tells the story of the people and places more like a history podcaster than a stuffy teacher. He mentions his sources and recommends books and other content creators who influenced his stories, too.
