Adventures In Homesteading (Day 339)

Hello Everyone!

A rainy morning, Gathering branches for the privacy walls, Stacking some root masses & Meandering on about nosy neighbors!

Alright, it is super early in the morning and much earlier than when I have been doing my writing of late... but having already gotten a full night's rest I may as well make this entry before I even start to put off doing so. If it were not for it being such an odd hour to wake up at, I would start intentionally waking at this time just because it is the only time of day (or night) that things are actually quiet around here.

Anyways, yesterday it rained a good bit early in the day so I did not get started doing stuff outdoors until it was nearly noon. All of which was fine, because I was feeling pretty worn out and was not feeling all that motivated to work on anything.

Once I got 'up and about' (so to speak) I began by gathering up more branches to weave into the privacy walls around the tent in an effort to fill in some of the larger holes in it... and to fill in the remaining empty space near the greenhouse. I am still debating on whether I should fully fill in the end of the wall near the greenhouse... because doing so would make it difficult to access the rear of the tent without having to walk all the way around it from the other side.

Since I have used most of the branches that I had piled up near the camp, I went hiking around to the places that I harvested poplar trees at last year... and gathered up the 'tops' where from where I had stacked them. Between those parts and some branches that I gathered from the pile of trees created after clearing for that flat spot for a building... I wound up with plenty of material to finish out the wall near the greenhouse.

While I was picking through the tree debris near the 'flat' area (which is not quite flat yet because we have not finished the machine work) I pulled out a bunch of the root masses that were stacked along the edge... and then stacked them on top of each other. At first I was just getting them out of the way... but I quickly realized that where I was stacking them helped block the view from the nearby road... and they looked pretty neat being stacked one atop the other.

At this point, I am rather determined to make as many 'visual blocks' as I can around the place... but whoa it is really challenging to achieve on the uphill side due to the way the road there gives such a vantage point into the rest of the property. In the end it will probably require either some very tall brush walls... or an actual privacy fence made from either wooden slats or roofing metal panels.

Given how damned nosy the neighbors are... and how they jump to all the wrong conclusions while being able to see what I am up to... I can only imagine what they will think once they can no longer actually see what is going on! Anyone with half a brain should be able to figure out by now that I just want to be left the hell alone... but since they have not been able to figure that out by now... I doubt that they ever will.

On a similar note, I am still waiting on the blowback from my recent tourettes outburst... and although I doubt anyone will directly say anything to me... I feel confident that I will be getting another visit from the law eventually. I keep picturing how I am going to handle that when it happens... and all I keep coming up with is saying something like: What is it this time? A report of someone naked swinging on vines whilst yodeling and intermittently singing a country music song?

Of course I am only partially joking about saying all of that... but it is downright absurd that I have to be concerned about getting another false report called in on me for who knows what! Something that I know full and well... is that if I had ever done a tenth of what these folks have done to me here to any of them... there would have been all sorts of hell to pay for it by now.

Well, on that unpleasant note... I think that I am going to call this entry almost good enough and get on with the tedious editing. I hope that most folks are doing well. Ciao for now.
