I have always loved to sketch, and in the past, a lot of people asked me what's the benefit from sketching ? why you just do not paint or draw directly into the canvas instead of wasting your time sketching, well, to answer this question, we need to first define what is sketching, or how i see sketching.

For me, sketching is the brainstorming of every idea you want to convert and put into a canvas, the final result does not have to be a painting, it could be anything from designing a car to creating 3d characters for a game or designing an interface for web or phone application. 

Now lets go into painting, i think sketching is very important in this field as it develop your sense of creation and imagination over time, it enhance your ability to draw especially when talking about anatomy where you need to spend a lot of time sketching and practicing to get to the desired shape ( i remembered myself spending years of sketching anatomies and faces till i become good at), there are a lot of people using other ( easier ) methods for sketching like for example the grid  which i am totally against it and i will do a separate post explaining why. for the moment i will post one of my old sketches when i was practicing drawing portraits, please let me know what you think about this article down below and do not forget to upvote and resteem.
