Chisom's hopes knew no boundary, and leaped higher than the cow that jumped over the moon.
Why so?
Jesse his best friend had just introduced him as "the bestie" to her créme de la créme friends, who eyed him disapprovingly.
When they touched on the topic of marriage, Jesse softly purred, "I'd very much love to marry my best friend, it'll be my best accomplishment in life."
He couldn't sleep that night as his heart went thumping like the gon-gon which heralds the Aké festival. "I can't believe my luck," he muttered under his laboured breathing.
Fastforward to three years later, Chisom sat teary-eyed watching his bestie (in wonderment) reading her nuptial speech - beginning with the lines, "I married my best friend..."
He could take it no longer and stood up to exit the banquet hall - but not before the concluding part of her speech caught his ears, "...Buchi I will love you forever."
The hall erupted in a standing ovation.
MORAL: Define every relationship. Don't go catching vain feelings for someone who isn't mutually aligned to you. Friendzone is real, don't waste your life being a prisoner of hope.
