This post is for the #wednesdaywalk challenge and the #makemesmile challenge collaboration. This collaboration initially took place once a month, but due to its popularity, @tattoodjay (of the #wednesdaywalk) and
@elizacheng (of #makemesmile) decided to make it a weekly thing.
If you want to know more about the rules, visit this week's post by @tattoodjay where you will find all the rules at the bottom of his post after you've enjoyed his beautiful photos from his walk.
Last weekend we had lovely sunny weather and we decided to go for a walk at Winkle Spruit Beach. Well, we know it as Winkle Spruit Beach, but I see it is shown on Google Maps as St. Winifred's Beach, yet the rocky area is shown as Winkle Rocks.
Winkle Spruit is located at the southern end of Amanzimtoti, south of Durban, on the east coast of South Africa.
We had our five-year-old grandson with us and we took our dog along too.
Arriving at the beach, we saw notice boards that dogs are not allowed on the beach. So, my wife took our grandson for a nice walk on the beach while I took our dog for a walk in the area just above the beach.
It was still relatively early in the morning and I got some nice shots of the little river at the top end of the beach.
It was a peaceful scene with some bird life on the water...
From where I was walking with the dog, I also had a beautiful view of the beach.
No swimming was allowed for the day though. We heard from the lifeguards on duty, that they had spotted a shark in the water the previous day. They didn't know at that stage if there was more than one shark in the water and whether they were still around. So..., rather safe than sorry!
Another view of the beach to the northern side.
My wife returned with our grandson to stay with our dog. It was my turn to take our grandson for a walk on the beach now.
The first thing I noticed on the beach as I walked onto the sand, was this snail who was also enjoying a walk on the beach...at a snail's pace...lol.
We crossed through some shallow water to the other side of the little river (from my first photo).
These are some scenes I got from this side of the river.
Taking a closer look at one of the colorful flowers on the bank of the river.
Another beautiful scene looking out over the river.
Some logs in the shallow water of the river.
We started walking back to the lower end of the beach where we found more logs on the beach as well.
I'll end this post with a photo of this log, in particular, that stood out to me. It was almost as if it became part of the beach...
That's it for today, folks.
Thank you for reading my post! I do appreciate it!
