Pictured above is some corn nestled in a tree.
I have no idea. A few days ago I began noticing an empty corn stalk laying in the street next to this tree, but the corn cob that used to call the stalk home was nowhere to be found. Then, yesterday, I was walking home from class and behold! The missing cob! Nestled perfectly in a crevasse of this tree! there was no one nearby, but the corn was facing the street, so I know many people saw it. It sort of looks like this could have been an attempt at making a naturally-looking squirrel feeder. This idea is really just a shot in the dark because there are no other corn cobs in trees or even on the ground on campus, and knowing the squirrels here, they are very well fed and do not need a corn supplement.
I really have no idea. There is a small chance that someone found the corn and stalk on the ground and posed the corn in the tree for all to see its glory, but I highly doubt this. Where was the corn between the time I noticed the stalk on the ground over a week ago and yesterday when I found the corn in the tree? Someone also could have just had a stalk of corn with cob intact laying around their house and thought, "Hey, this corn looks like a nice ear of corn, maybe I should pose it in a tree for all to see," and then that someone brought corn and stalk to campus, removed the corn from the stalk, and posed it in the tree.
Really, nothing can be said for sure about this mysterious finding. I will keep everyone posted if any further information comes about, but I am doubtful of any new developments.
There is some corn. It's resting in a tree. That is all.
