There are some people out there wondering
WHY I and others are only now INVESTING MORE into the chain and all things related to the chain than in the past?
Well, I won't and probably can't speak on other peoples behalf, as that wouldn't be fair to them. What I can do is share my thoughts on this very positive and constructive change that is happening.
OK, where can I start?
I guess the process of elimination is something that I utilize more often than not in my logic, so I will use it here too, so as to ensure consistency in my thought pattern.
No Dictators.
Yes, that is 100% right. Hive is solely dependent on Stake owners as far as governance goes.
"Now some may say that is the same as what it was!"
However, I beg to differ.
We don't have any 'central authority' as what was the case in the past with Stinc and the formal CEO and those in the shadows of Stinc. Stinc was limited by jurisdiction (local laws) as to what, who, how, when and where. This proved to be a major loophole in the ecosystem, which was abused.
We all saw what happened and how it happened. It had nothing to do with "community" or stake that was purchased or earned by the means of adding content (value) to the chain.
Hence that looming shadow over us is now gone.
As for the governance of Hive, well, it depends on all of us who have stake (invested money) into the chain.
& we acquired it either by purchasing it with our hard earned money or by adding value to the chain via content.
It didn't fall from the sky and there were no "virtual picks and shovels" for the vast majority of us who are constantly working at bettering the chain (with our content).
Freedom of "Expression"
Yes, no matter what some neg heads may think or say, freedom of expression on Hive exists.
Now some of you may think that I am talking about "blogging".
NO. I am talking about the business side of things.
Everyone is now free to try what S/He wishes without the fear of there being "some dude called Ned" to kill it, as what seemed to be the case all too often.
Maybe some of those who 'Ned liked' may disagree with this above statement, but that is just that, 'Who the f is Ned or JS or any clown similar to them to determine the fate of a project or business on a DECENTRALIZED platform?'
i.e. Ned allegedly didn't want gambling sites on the chain. So they went elsewhere.
He really stuck to his principles on that one when he used that jurisdictional loophole to sell the company and whatever else he included in that sale! He really was a man of his word. Loved his principles, didn't he.
PS. People like him are why so many people out there do not want anything to do with crypto. (just saying it as I see it).
Basically, you are free to move forwards with a project/endeavour and not have to worry about any one self appointed dictator out there. FREEDOM! DECENTRALIZATION in the making!
CLEAR VISION
Now this is a tough one imo.
In the past we saw all sorts of things going on and all sorts of jaw droppers, all over the place. It is safe to say that 2017 was indeed an interesting year in the world of crpyto and blockchains in general.
Now, 3 years in, heading on 4, guess I can say that the vision of 'what is what' is much clearer.
The 'smog' as I like to refer to it, has cleared up (still maybe a few traces of it, but generally speaking 'it's gone').
Sure, this makes things a lot easier when deciding upon things.
Rather than running around like a "headless chook" (aka chicken) it is much easier to move forwards in a cool, calm and collective manner.
Being proactive and constructive while assessing and making decisions.
Sure, some people are still 'dwelling on the past', that is all 'only human', no need to hold that against anyone, in fact it will take a lot of hard work, investing and results to show those people what all is in front of their noses as far as what all Hive has to offer them.
Even I am guilty of dwelling on the past from time to time (ref above mentions of Ned etc) MEA CULPA!
NEW OPPORTUNITIES
Yes, all of the above leads to this. Now it is up to the individual and teams of individuals to get up off their behinds and start making happen all those wonderful and creative ideas that we all had buzzing in our heads back in 2017/18/19
Change in hierarchy = opportunity to make the changes, to be the changes we all hoped for.
Now, instead of 'hoping' we can all literally move forwards and make them happen. In fact, each and every one of us is now RESPONSIBLE for the future of Hive.
100% INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY is what it NOW boils down to.
Making your ideas and dreams come true, is all about you putting your money, time, work and effort into making them happen.
& from what I see the flood gates are NOW open to anyone who is willing to go the extra mile.
We are no longer restricted to "Stinc" or "steemy.com".
The site hive.blog for example is there to serve us the people, not some company or those in charge of that company.

& yeah, it's all coding, but not really, if you follow the trails, you will see diversity in names, in ideas, in the overall approach to things.

The rest is all up to you and your conclusions, it is that bloody obvious that even Marvin the martian can see it without his mega telescope!
DECENTRALIZATION IN THE MAKING
You read that earlier in this post.
YES "IN THE MAKING"
We are seeing blockchain history in the making.
The (R)Evolution of decentralization is happening right in front of our eyes.
From the totally revolutionary HF 23 where Hive came to be as Hive to all the changes in mentality, the acceptance of new ideas and approaches, to the respect shown towards the dreams we all had back in the day.
Just look at the HF, it was so unique that it made all other forked chains look like something done in the stone age.

Again, all things said and done, we are creating and doing things that are rocking and rolling right over most crypto and blockchain endeavours out there, along with those who "don't like anything different to what they are used to" !
Hive is literally Decentralization in the making.
CONCLUSION
The above is an answer to WHY? & WHY NOW?
Simple as that.
