Yesterday I found this wonderful post about a bunch of different projects to bring python to the web.
None of them are perfect and they all have slightly different approaches. (unfortunately none of these work with numpy or pandas or the rest of the scientific python stack)
Most of them use the straightforward idea of only running the python server-side and then sending the results to the client...this is straightforward and much easier to implement, but it still means you need to run client-side code in nasty javascript...
However, some of them actually implement real client-side python! Brython is a python interpreter implemented in javascript! PythonJS transpiles python into javascript! PyPy.js is a newer project which brings PyPy's "Just In Time" compilation into asm.js (which is much faster than normal javascript)!
