Hello! Today's sketching exercise is a rose.
Though I have a rose garden, I realized I don't often draw roses.
Reference:
Flowers from my garden.

This was a good chance to draw petals and contrast of shadows.

Here's the result and the process photos:

Materials:

• writing pencil (which is dark and good for sketches)
• acid free smooth paper from a sketchpad

Process

Shading was fun,I didn't smudge. It's still rough.

One day I'll achieve that glowing effect.
