Hello Steemers, I have wanted to build a CNC machine since along time, and I have started with my purpose, in this first part I designed the head that must be strong enough to support the cutting router. I have digitized different pieces so that the costs are reduced and many of them have been replaced by pieces in 3D printing.
As part of the updates I have made to the CNC machine, I have designed and manufactured a series of plastic components [PLA] (https://ultimaker.com/en/products/materials/pla) which are also part of the head, which consist of a 48 mm mobile block with LM8UU bearings, and a base for a bearing 608, which will serve as a guide for the movement of the head of the cutting system.
Below I will present the design process step by step in Autodesk Inventor
This block is part of an improvement that I have considered since 4 pieces with lm8uu linear bearings are usually used but I have made an adaptation where a compact block will be made which has the length of two vertical pieces in order to simplify the assembly process and the quantity of final pieces in the machine; This design is ideal for the lml8uu bearing used in 3D printers, which is twice the size of the traditional lm8uu bearing.
The bases for bearing 608 will be manufactured in this way since the internal diameter of said bearing corresponds to a hole of 8 mm which fits perfectly with the trapezoidal rod of displacement of the head whose outer diameter in 8 mm equally.
and friends, I finally show you an advance of the structure of the machine which I will present in later post with their respective plans and design structures, I hope you will join me in this complicated but fun journey for the manufacture of my cnc machine
