After checking for remaining ranch chores and petting Rufus, I let John speak with Jack about adjusting to their new life. I then poured a hot cup of coffee and walked to the outer fence to watch the sunset over the trees, capped off the peaceful evening by firing off a few blank rounds into the sky.
I decided to take on one last chore for the day, which was watering the plants around the ranch. Checking the time, I realized it was not the right moment for it, so I decided to push that task off until early the next morning.
Looking around for other work that needed to be done, it appeared there were no other chores left to tackle for the evening.
Instead, I spent a moment petting Rufus, who was being a good boy as always.
As I finished playing with the dog, Jack walked out of the house. I offered him a warm greeting, which he returned before heading over to his favorite spot under a nearby tree.
Sitting down in the shade, he pulled out a knife and began sharpening an object in his hands. I let John ask him how he was liking life around the ranch.
He stayed quiet for a second before admitting that he was not loving the place all that much. John reassured him that things were going well and that they would be happy here, and the boy quietly accepted his answer.
With the sun starting to set, I decided to pour myself a hot cup of coffee from the pot and enjoy the view. Holding the mug, I walked up toward a higher patch of ground along the outer fence at the edge of the property, hoping the drink would not lose its heat on the way up.
Steam was still rising from the mug as I reached the spot just in time to see the sun dipping behind the tall trees on the horizon. I stood at the fence line, let John sipping the hot coffee against the backdrop of the evening sky.
It was a genuinely peaceful moment for both me and John.
To close out the day, I drew my weapon and fired off a few blank rounds into the air just to waste some ammo before night fell.
Here I'm finishing the post for today, and I'll talk about more special RDR 2 gaming moments in Gaming Photography.
