In my previous post I mentioned TravelChain startup which is changing the way of travel we today know in terms of searching for the flight, information sharing/privacy, independent decision of who can view your data and if you allow it for what price, etc.
Online travel market is mostly “owned” by the biggest companies like Expedia or Priceline in the USA. Therefore, TravelChain is really needed to equally distribute all the information to every market participant. Therefore, in a spam from 3-5 years this blockchain will show new standards and change the way of travelling, making it smart travelling.
Many think of searching for flights as a hassle and are always afraid that they are losing money when purchasing flight tickets for example. In a recent poll, 69% of leisure travellers want the cheapest available price, but are concerned they will not find it. Furthermore, many people book their tickets from 3-5 or even 6 months in advance for their desired leisure travel and therefore this makes marketing campaigns really difficult. Due to that, direct booking can only be seen by using Google Matrix flights search, although you are not able to buy it immediately but need to contact a travel agency to book it for you, where you again need to pay them certain surcharge.
After Global Distribution Systems (GDS), Online Travel Agencies (OTA) and mobile devices travel booking another innovation that will come is easy travel booking as with Uber. Therefore, only services capable of data acquisition and structuring will benefit, with algorithms that remember all the information needed will only make future travel search easier and time consuming with the best solutions. Furthermore, travellers if they would like to pay the lowest price, will look at the cheapest option with no preference regarding the carrier or the duration of the travel. One survey showed that 78% of the first time travellers do not know which airlines they will fly with and 82% did not book accommodation but only the flight.
