I have driven past this place a number of times already this year, but the last time I actually stopped to visit this viewdeck was six years ago. Back then, I was still single—though I was already dating the wonderful woman who is now my wife. In fact, I was traveling with her family at the time.

While heading home from our recent trip to Zambales, we decided to stop by this same viewdeck to stretch our legs, rest, and catch some fresh air. We were treated to a beautiful, sweeping view of the open sea, which is actually part of the Lingayen Gulf. It made me reflect on the town itself; Sual is well-known for being one of the wealthiest municipalities in our province, bringing in massive revenues from its bustling seaport, thriving agriculture, and most notably, its major power plant. Yet, despite all this economic wealth flowing into the municipality, it is disheartening to see that the everyday lives of the local people remain largely unchanged.
