A storm is looming on the horizon. We have experienced a great deal of this unpredictable weather lately. It is a striking contrast to our mornings and mid-afternoons, which are dominated by oppressive, extreme heat.
The ongoing El Niño phenomenon has been affecting our region severely, leaving behind a wake of parched earth and soaring temperatures. Because of this, our local farmers are more than welcoming of the sudden downpour. They desperately need this moisture to combat the devastating effects of the prolonged drought. Before the storm, agricultural lands and vital crops were starting to wither and turn dry under the sun; thus, this rainfall serves as a much-needed blessing. May we all hold onto the hope that conditions will steadily improve for our farming communities. After all, ensuring their survival and success ultimately guarantees food security for everyone.
