My goodness - it's been a minute since I've posted on Hive. I was on vacation, got COVID, had to catch up - ugh!

I'm happy to be back just in time for Three Tune Tuesday by @ablaze. If you're not familiar with Three Tune Tuesday or #TTT, here is a quick description from a recent post by ablaze:

Right, Ok, now for the benefit of new readers, every Tuesday I pick three songs, sometimes all three from the same artist, sometimes three tunes from a particular genre, other times three songs from a certain country - you get the idea. I've always asked others to get involved and over the past few weeks, that is exactly what's happened, and we now have some ThreeTune regulars which is fantastic! The ask is to basically choose three songs to share. You can sing them or hum them or just pick three from an artist you love like I do, which is what most people do each week.

In this week's post, I wanted to share a really cool experience I had on a recent trip that centered around music.

A few weeks ago I went to Nashville, Tennessee for business. I had one free evening and a friend recommended I check out The Listening Room Café. I was happy to see they still had tickets available for that evening so I quickly purchased one.

The premise behind The Listening Room Café is pretty cool. Chris Blair who is the founder and owner is a singer/songwriter. He wanted to create a venue local to Nashville (the original site was in Franklin, TN) where other singer/songwriters like him could play their music to a live audience. The location has moved four times both due to the growth of The Listening Room and the growth of downtown Nashville. It is currently located in an old International Harvester Tractor building on 2nd avenue. There is also a second location in Pigeon Forge, TN but I have not had the opportunity to visit there.

Tickets are extremely affordable for live entertainment - ranging in cost from $0 up to $20 depending on the time of day (they do shows at lunch and dinner) as well as the artist lineup. My ticket was $10 and I got to hear and see four singer/songwriters perform together at a dinner time show. There is always a $15 food and beverage minimum per person for show. So, in total your price can be as low as $15 for a lunch time show where you kept to only the minimum food order.

So, enough with the backstory - let's get into the tunes and the artists that I got to hear that night. This was me just before the show began.

Dusty sings the kind of country music I was raised on and both Sadie and Emilee (Charly was predominantly there to accompany her) both sing the kind of music that I love today when I'm in that moody thoughtful kind of mood.

I tried to just listen and enjoy the evening and not film everything but Dusty set up that the others would sing with him on this a bit so I recorded just a touch of it to give you a sense of what a live dinner concert at The Listening Room is like.

After that evening at The Listening Room Café, I dug into all three artist's catalogs of music to see what I liked the best. Here are my favorites that are publicly available from each - keeping in mind that some of the songs they performed at The Listening Room Café are not actually released yet.

Dusty Bo

Dusty has the most active YouTube channel and has certainly put a lot of time and money into his videos. There is a bandit theme that runs through a series of them and they are really fun. I really loved this song - All I Can Dream.

Sadie Campbell

Sadie is a Canadian-American artist. I fell in love with her voice instantly as well as the messages of her songs. She is incredibly talented and I hope she gets some great breaks to allow her music to get heard by even more people. As I dug into what was available from her on YouTube, I fell in love with this song - Can't Take It With You - it's sort of a picture of my life right now. I may add this to my funeral playlist.

Emilee Allen

Most of what is available on YouTube by Emilee are covers. I actually like Emilee's version of That Wasn't Me (a cover of a Brandi Carlile song) more than I like the original.
