Explore The Sky Well in Danang - Every day with my friends is an Adventure!!!
Hi Hiver,
How have you been? Hope life is treating you well.
Have you ever been stuck in the forest, surrounded by the immense green of the mountains and hills, the water under your feet, the hot sun is on the head, and you don't know whether to move forward or backward? That was the situation for me and my team a few months ago.
Also on a sunny weekend like this, we decided to go to Gieng Troi - it means The Sky Well, a place located at the foot of Ba Na mountain, about 35km west of Da Nang city. This is the ideal place for those who like the quiet because of the peaceful, wild, and poetic look of this place. Located deep in the forest, the Sky Well retains its inherent wildness, surrounded by dense forest perennial trees.
To enjoy the beauty along with that fresh air, you have to overcome a long way that takes both perseverance and effort. There are two options when coming to Gieng Troi, you can ride a motorbike to the foothills of Ba Na tourist area, send it there and then walk up to about 10km, it will take about 5 hours if you just go and admire the scenery.
It is also possible to drive across Ba Na and then walk up a distance, this way is less time-consuming, but provided that you have to drive well because the road is full of stones and steep, relatively dangerous. But unfortunately, the Ba Na owner is having a tourism development plan, so all activities for motorbikes should be stopped to go to Gieng Troi.
We chose the third way to ask a local to guide us by motorbike to Gieng Troi. This is a road discovered by the local people themselves, so it will be more wild and interesting than the normal road.
Because we often trek in different terrains, now we want to experience the feeling of driving up high slopes, both enjoying the feeling of conquest and wanting to save time because our trip is only 2 days 1 night.
The guide said it only took two hours to get there, we believe it because our leader has also been to Gieng Troi several times. But one important thing we overlooked, 2 hours is for locals local people (those who were born with the ability to survive in the green forest). And we are just dreamers :))
With that "2-hour" belief, we departed at 11 am in Da Nang, after preparing food and supplies for the journey.

Run towards the foot of Ba Na mountain to meet the guide, the journey begins here. We crept along the trail (sometimes not), through the luxuriant tree paths, no exit.
Hit the slopes that exceed the limits of the motorcycle engine. The whole group had to take turns walking, in the middle of the hot summer day, all team pushed each motorbike through the top of the hill. At this moment, we still have a firm belief that the goal is coming.
Although more than 2 hours had passed, my group went deeper and deeper into the forest, the phone signal gradually lost its signal, and the guide was always cheering.
After the steep and rocky roads (characteristic of primeval green forests), we reached a hilltop that made everyone shocked and almost burst into tears :)) The slope is up to 70 degrees. We had to put the motorbikes down if we wanted to continue the journey, at this point, it was confusing. It was already dark, and it was too late to return to the city at this time, my team decided to continue together.
It took more than an hour to prepare and move more than 10 motorbikes down the hill. The feeling of witnessing with our own eyes the adventure of tying a rope to the motorbikes to drop it off, we couldn't help but exclaim a few times.
Once again in my head, I kept repeating the phrase “Teamwork makes dream work”.
After that time, the whole group fell silent, partly because they were tired and partly because they wanted to keep their strength for the next challenge. Food and water are running out, it feels like we're playing a survival game.
When the road collapsed and we couldn't get the motorbikes through, we thought we had to stop here, but it is at times like these that the spirit of "nothing to lose" rises above all else!
The boys thought of ways to repair the road, using the guide's pickaxe and small ax (the thing that always follows the locals when going to the forest) to break rocks to make a path, bringing each motorbike through. We thought this was the ultimate challenge, but no! Life is always something unexpected.
At the part where the stream flows through, high and big rocks block the road, we are forced to leave the motorbikes at the foot of the stream, from here continue the journey when the surrounding is only darkness and murmuring water.
At this moment we split into small groups, to support each other and because only a few people had flashlights. The whole group has a phone, but at this time, the water can sometimes reach hip height, holding the phone is dangerous, the boys take on the role of carrying heavy things, the girls alternately go to ensure safety.
We kept walking in the dark like that until 1 o'clock at night, we heard the sound of the waterfall getting closer and closer, the fire of the guide lit up, signaling the destination had arrived.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, put down all their belongings, and lay down on the big rocks is cold. A feeling of happiness welled up in everyone's heart.
The next day, my friends confessed to each other that the feeling of seeing the waterfall and the fire made them know that they were alive :))
It's been a long time since we had such joy in our heart, in the city life is peaceful and steady: going to work - leaving work - appointments... How long has it been since we've experienced the thrill of such a journey?
The first day of the journey ended with deep sleep.
The next day we rested, immersed in the immense nature around and prepared for the return journey, which we thought would be "easier", but NOT!
After all, no matter how hard the journey, but the feeling of lying back on the cool brick floor, next to the murmuring waterfall, looking up at the bright sun, no wifi, no phone signal. Valuable! And it has been a part of the beautiful memories of youth.
