This was my favorite game as a kid, it's an RPG with many quests and very long gameplay, I finished the game around 1-2 years ago(never as a kid), The map is huge with a lot of things to do in order and out of order, side missions, card games and arena battles. Sometimes it's really hard to figure out what to do and it has it's flaws like bad monster rng, having impossible fights at a time and so on but despite that I still love it.
I started playing this again now because I've got 6 more days to go home(no car anymore so I can't go alone) and as an introvert I can't handle being with so many people anymore. This game takes my mind of things, I actually had 2 more hours of gameplay but I forgot to record the sound. I might considering putting some endgame stuff, the fights get really fun when you have a lot of evolutions to work with and skills to choose and there are are more bosses, if I do I'm definitely adding the end game tournament I completely forgot about in my last playthrough.
I was considering picking a different starter pack, you get 3 digimon to begin with and they can evolve into almost all the other bigger evolutions, but I got too attached to the little digimon I love running behind me and ended up picking my originals.
The music in this game, just wow, so many memorable soundtracks, each casting an appropriate mood be it action, relaxing, creepy triumphant or soothing. Even something as short as gatomon's song(when healing) just has a nice ring to it. My favorites have to be divermon's lake, Inn, south badlands(I can listen to this one on loop for hours, used to stay in the area just for the music) and east station. The general story of the game is pretty cool: you're with your friends and decide to try a new online game digital monsters when you find out you've been locked in,.You try to get the 4 gym badges cough leader badges and try to fight an evil organization. Later you go into an alternate server, the whole map looks the same except redder and the monsters are stronger and different.
The card game is fun too, it's more about collection and knowing how the game works than skill, but what I think is best is they combined the card game to the actual digimon fights. To get boster packs you can either; beat players, kick trees (hot/cold game) and fight a strong monster, fish for it(also beat a monster). There's also a whole duelist island where you fight for the crown, I managed to beat the easier one but the other server one was too much.
I'm playing with a joystick controller on my pc(psx 1.13 emulator) using joytokey for the controls, recording with obs. I don't have my playstation anymore because the door motor is broken besides, it would be too inconvenient to carry.
