The issue is not with plastic in general, since much of it can be recycled, the issue is with single-use plastics (the type includes cling warp). At the moment the WHO, other international bodies and countries are banning this type of plastic so ordinary folk are going to have to find alternatives. If you tell women who with families that cling wrap is going to be banned, you will find that they are devastated - they wonder how they are going to manage :)
For now, despite innovative research single-use plastic is on its way out and we need to survive this fact by finding sustainable solutions - as you see in my article I suggest using PVC tabeling, which is reusable and has a long lifespan; also it can be recycled when it eventually hits the dump.
