Challenge question

✨Option six

Tell us about the first time you met your current partner - Where did you meet, was it a set up date or happenstance and was it instant attraction or did it rise slowly like the incoming tide? - If you like you may do a fictional story for this one, or post about the true story.

Life, unicorns and everything...

Life is a merry-go-round and you need to have a ticket to ride. The problem is that you can’t buy the ticket or choose your seat, the pass is randomly allocated and you can’t get off until it spins to a stop. Obviously, there are two ways to handle this, kick and fight, turn into the wind and blow backwards as hard as you can or find a way to enjoy the wind in your hair; look at your fellow riders and find another confused traveler who’d like to hold your hand, embolden your heart and spice up the journey.

Unfortunately, there’s another problem (I know..I know, not everyone understands how fast the merry-go-round runs out of steam) so, sometimes the person you choose only stays a while. Sometimes the wind blows really hard; you have to hold onto your seat and your significant other simply drifts away to find another, stronger hand to hold.

Breakups are so hard to do, especially when you’re twirling at the speed of light just to stay on your seat.

Fortunately, the merry-go-round is HUGE so, however, heartbroken you are, you can take a look around and see if there’s anyone else out there laughing madly in the wind, looking for someone who enjoys crazy as much as you do (I promise, there really are…)

Anyway, I digress, but it’s important for perspective (you know, to understand…)

So, I was on the lilac and blue horse, and it didn’t have any magic...it wasn’t a unicorn or anything and I was PHENOMENALLY upset about my ride. I’d been traveling next to an orange saddled rider, a beautiful specimen of a man, and we’d had a very long conversation about, well, everything, really. It was so fun! But then he decided that he preferred to partake in a conversation he’d overheard a few horses up on the ride. I tell you, the horse wasn’t even pretty and the rider had blue hair which anyone would find UNATTRACTIVE (okay, okay...it was streaming in the wind and she was wearing a beautiful rose hair clip that glittered and shone). It’s possible that her horse was actually a unicorn, but…
Fate is extremely fickle, but now and then it decides to be kind (he didn’t understand calculus, despite the fact that he professed to be a mathematician. GOOD RIDDANCE…) There was a riderless orange horse (without any magic) right next to me (convenient, hey?) and this really, insanely gorgeously dressed dude decided that the horse’s saddle matched his neon stove pipes and HE ACTUALLY SAT DOWN NEXT TO ME…

Wow, oh wow. I could hardly breathe (his shirt was pink and he had a John Fowles novel under one arm, a punnet of strawberries in his hand and “Understanding Calculus. Advanced Theory “, under the other arm (two arms and hands, okay...don’t get confused)(how he got on the horse I’ll never know...goes to show that he was MR RIGHT from the very start).

He offered me a strawberry and, me, being the obtuse individual that I am, said

“Where’s the cream, then? You can’t give a girl half a dessert, now can you?” (honestly, that’s exactly what I said…)

He started laughing, and that got me giggling and then we were both doubled over, tears streaming down our faces… It was so funny that we were both sore all over. Obviously, neither of us could stay on our horses, so we ended up rolling with laughter on the floor of the merry-go-round. I’m telling you people were staring at us, and talking behind our backs…but we didn’t care, we didn’t...

And that’s how my heart was stolen. It's been an incredibly beautiful journey so far and both of our horses have turned into unicorns (promise!)
