Hello my dear Hivers!
Today, I’ll be sharing with you what happened before the baptism of the child of my close friend and former coworker, Ate Shella. She just recently graduated, by the way!
This friend of mine and I actually started working at the same time as working students. Yes, we were also assigned to the same office, and that’s where our friendship began. Whenever we were tired from work or going through something in life, we’d go to the stockroom to chat and vent.
Aside from Ate Shella, we also have another close friend Ate Elai who joined us at the baptism. Both of them just recently graduated this month, and I’m so proud of them!
As for Ate Shella, she never told me that she was preggy, but Ate Elai knew everything. I only found out recently. Just last month, Ate Shella posted her baby on her MyDay, and I replied to her story saying, “Is that your baby, Ate?” and she answered yes, yes! That’s also when we became active again in our group chat. We started catching up, talking about life updates, and their plans now that they’ve graduated. Ate Elai and Ate Shella really clicked, especially when it came to work stuff since they were batchmates, but even so, they never made me feel left out. The two of them always made sure I was included, that’s why I feel so lucky.
During our chats, Ate Shella asked me if I would be busy on June 8, 2025, because she wanted to list me as one of her baby’s godmothers. I replied, “Of course! I’ll attend!”
When the actual day came, I messaged our group chat asking what time the mass would start. Ate Shella replied that they were already on their way to the church and told us to just follow. The thing is, I hadn’t even showered yet when I asked, and take note, it was already 7 a.m.! The mass starts at 8 a.m., so I hurried to get ready.
I also messaged Ate Elai since we were going together. But before I went to wait for her, I had breakfast first, I can’t leave without eating! After getting ready, I waited outside and took a tricycle so I could pick up Ate Elai along the road. When we reached San Antonio, I saw Ate Elai already waiting by the roadside, so we were able to ride together.
The ride wasn’t even 30 minutes, just about 20 minutes. There were also others in the tricycle who were headed to the same church in Lapaz, Bogo City, so the driver just dropped us all off since the church is a bit far from the main road.
When we arrived, this is what welcomed us. I actually came here before, way back in 2019, and I can really say that there have been changes.
Imagine, that was many years ago, and even their plants here are so alive, it’s really clear that they’re well taken care of. Even the place itself gives such a light and comforting feeling.
The seats inside were already occupied, so we just got chairs outside, thankfully, there were still some available.
The priest hadn’t started the homily yet, so we weren’t that late after all.
