Back in 2016 my dad introduced me to Bitcoin. Prior to that, I was a salesman of sorts, not really finding my passion or career. Floating from sales position to sales position was the norm for me, as I really had trouble getting passion behind selling cars, or credit repair, or whatever else I sold during my days. Once I was introduced to Cryptocurrency, I was hooked.
I can still remember laying in bed the night I figured out what Ethereum was. At the time, I had little to no knowledge of computer code, or computer programs, but I quickly understood the concept of smart contracts and what they could mean for the world. Enticed by the price action, I quickly put what little money I could (which was around $400 in eth) by buying the ETH from a family member.
I was happy to find that I didn't lose it!! In fact in my first investment, I made a little over $1000. Aside from some shady dealings in and around high school, I had never invested money in anything except for my sales skills. Needless to say, from that point I was deeply embedded in the crypto rabbit hole.
At that time, I was lucky enough to have started a DOT Compliance company with a friend that required me to work about 1-2 hours a day. What that meant for me, I was able to take about 6 hours every day just to research crypto-related projects and topics. It helped me develop an understanding of the underlying technology, as well as where this technology was headed. I was spending time learning how to code, as I knew this would be essential if I ever wanted to enter the crypto field for employment.
This is when MediaCoin came along...
I learned of a project in my hometown where I was currently living (Boise, Idaho) that was called MediaCoin. Intrigued by the idea I met with the founder, Ian Smith, and was quickly brought on board for my sales and marketing experience.
Ian explained that MediaCoin is an encrypted digital media distribution platform. Digital media includes music, video, e-books, e-learning, and any other type of digital transmission that is made.
Currently, most communications and media are easily stolen. Data is simply easy to steal. The way you protect yourself from something so inevitable is by making the stolen dataq completely impossible to decipher. That way the pirating party can steal the data all they would like, but without the specific encryption key there is literally no use for this jumbled mess of data.
I quickly jumped in headfirst, shutting down the DOT compliance company I had started and began working full time on MediaCoin. That is where we stand now. MediaCoin is currently in ICO phase. We are gaining investors by offering our token (Quantum MediaCoin Token or QMCT, which is on the ETH network) at a very low rate.
ICO allows us to raise capital to operate while offering people who see the value in our project a way to support us and receive our token at a VERY low rate compared to what it will be once we list it on an exchange.
I am in charge of sales and marketing for MediaCoin, and have a great team I am working with on that. Our founder Ian is quite possibly the single most brilliant man I have ever met, and I am proud to say I am working alongside him.
Our plans extend far beyond digital media distribution, it is just the most applicable space for our technology. Musicians and content creators have long been upset about the current methods of distribution that leave their content completely vulnerable to theft, and are getting fed up with this lately as the companies that handle distribution (such as spotify, pandora, soundcloud) are currently undergoing lawsuits, and financial difficulties associated with their lack of security. This is the PERFECT time for someone to step in and take the reins and change the direction of the industry.
I will talk more on this in future posts, but this is my first one.
PLEASE: let me know what I need to change, or what ideas you have for me to create content. I am a good writer, but have lacked content before due to a lack of passion. I now have that passion in crypto, and specifically the project i am working in.
Thank you for sticking with me along the way, and I promise I will have some humor in my posts in the future!
