How are you all doing? It's another weekend, it's another blog! Are you having a rough time at work or with your everyday schedule? If you'd like to chill and feel the nature vibe, come and join me on my nature trips and local travels. If you are new to my page, I make content about travels, food & dining reviews, education, volunteering, financial literacy, adulting, cryptocurrency, and many other things under the sun.

For today's episode, I am bringing you to one of the hidden gems in Cebu City. We are going to chase the Budlaan Falls in Talamban Cebu. I am sharing my experiences during our day river trekking to Budlaan Falls. I must say that it's a thrilling activity to do on a weekend.

Some people enjoy hiking because it allows them to connect with nature and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The serene beauty of the mountains, forests, and trails can be incredibly refreshing and rejuvenating. Hiking also provides a great opportunity for exercise and physical fitness.

River trekking is a thrilling outdoor activity that involves exploring and navigating through rivers and their surrounding environments. It typically involves walking, climbing, swimming, and sometimes even jumping or sliding down natural water slides. River trekking can be done in various types of rivers, ranging from calm and shallow streams to fast-flowing and deep rivers with rapids and waterfalls. It is a popular adventure sport that allows participants to experience the beauty of nature while challenging themselves physically and mentally.

The Budlaan Trail is very common to hikers from beginners to advanced. It is one of the training grounds for mountaineers for their major climbs. The good thing about Budlaan is, it's just within Cebu City. It's very convenient to climb even during your rest day. As a person who loves spending time with nature, I'm glad that there's a mountain trail within the City.

Budlaan Falls, also known as Kabang Falls, is a mountain trail if you want to reach Sirao Peak by hiking. It is derived from the Barangay name which is Budlaan in Talamban Cebu. The drop-off area is very accessible from different destination points. If you are planning to hike your way to Budlaan Falls, you can have Gaisano Talamban as your drop-off point. There are motorcycles in the area that you can hire going to Barangay Baugo to start your trail.

You can take two trails, one goes directly to the Budlaan Falls which only takes a few minutes from the jump-off point. If you want a challenging path, you can do the river trail which would take a couple of hours. The travel period still depends on your pacing which might take fewer or more hours to reach the Budlaan Falls.

I would highly recommend the Kabang trail if you want to practice for your major climbs. Be sure to always have the proper gear for your hike in case the trail gets more complicated especially if the weather doesn't cooperate. It might get slippery. There will be extra challenging parts of the trail like you have to face the wall and there's only a fine line to cross the river. We prefer to step on the stones and climb on walls than swim to the river since water in your gear can contribute weight which makes everything heavier.

Despite a few people claiming that the waters that flow from the upper part of the Sirao Mountains through Budlaan Falls are unsafe for swimming as it's contaminated by poultry and community waste that reside in the upper communities still, many people swarm the tourist spot, and enjoy swimming and cliff jumping. Also, you must bring more than enough water as you can't drink the water from the falls.

As I always say, we should be responsible for our actions. We must do our research before doing any activities so we are aware of what awaits us in our destinations. Most importantly, as responsible hikers, we should always live by the rule of LEAVE NO TRACE. We should respect everything and everyone that benefits nature and the trails.

That's basically it, I hope you liked this episode and I hope to interact with you in the comment section below. Everyone's glad to hear the stories of yours! Just always remember that learning is a lifetime process. You can learn from your experiences, trips, and from other people. The world is so vast. Explore and Learn! Traveling isn't is as expensive as you think! There's a so-called traveling on a frugal way with a purpose!

DEUCES!
