The Tuscan sun is beautiful, bright and brilliant. It became better known as a result of the movie Under the Tuscan Sun.
But when we're under the Tuscan clouds or rain, I'm not complaining. At the very least, it's ideal for taking photographs. The clouds act as a large diffuser, softening the light. It is an excellent time for portrait photography.
The portrait photos here are my entry to Deranged Photography Contest themed Portraits. Derangedvisions hosts these contests on Liketu, with a new theme each week. Check them out if you want to join the fun!
I'm also recommending this nice cafe next to a small chapel in the Orcia valley. I had crunchy biscotti (aka cantucci, Tuscan almond biscuits that are twice-baked and may be dipped in Vin Santo or coffee), and the coffee there tasted great too (it's Italy, after all...:)).
The chapel is called Vitaleta, located in the middle of nowhere in San Quirico d'Orcia. The cafe is right opposite it. It's an awesome spot to take in the iconic views of Tuscany's countryside.
