@Qurator's Photo Quest for this week is Abandoned Places, so here is my entry post. I'm going to show you an abandoned site in Namur Province, Belgium.

This place is in Wallonia, where the Industrial Revolution gained a foothold on the European continent after England. From the early 19th century until about 1880, Wallonia was the world's second industrial power in proportion to its territory and population.

This region is rich in minerals, and Namur is a major industrial centre during the period. At this abandoned site, you can see the machines and gears for processes such as sorting, transporting and cutting stones. I could still smell the rusty metal and machine oil walking around here. I'm not sure how to call this abandoned site. Is "stone quarry" the right name?
