When I moved into my home some nearly twenty years ago our backyard did not have fencing but was surrounded by cedars. Alas I am very allergic to cedars and tending to the area around them has always been a challenge. So I pick my battles and try to tend to the weeds beneath them and in my yard. These have been growing there since we moved in.
For the first several years I did not know what this plant was and the revelation of it's identity did not fill me with joy. It is of the hemp family...marijuana if you will and it was growing wild throughout my backyard. I tried pulling it up by hand. I tried using a weed whipper. I tried mowing it down. All to no avail. It keeps coming back.
I do not like to use herbicides as both myself and my dog walk through these areas and I am concerned about the health affects of these chemicals. Now that my country is legalizing this plant maybe I can just let it grow.
