I woke up with this terrible hunger waging war against my stomach. Without bothering to brush, I picked up a plate and gently approach the pot sitting firmly on my stove. I pulled off its cover and dipped in the spoon. I was bemused when the spoon went through the whole red stew without touching anything solid. "Where was the chicken I fried yesterday?" I was replied by this terrible sound. I turned to the other side of the room and saw Jamiu my room mate snoring. My brain quickly deciphered what had happened. Jamiu had woken up in the middle of the night and had devoured the whole chicken in my soup. Boiling with anger, I picked my small turner and attempted to bash the mouth that ate my hard earned chicken. Before I could, I heard a voice said "Why art thou looking for a live chicken in a pot of soup? " I was confused and couldn't understand a thing until I heard the unmistakable crow of my chicken outside. I flung the door open and saw it sitting on a banana tree. My mouth was agape until I heard a voice say "Broda Seyi, should I bring the knife to slaughter it now? " it was Shile: my neighbor's son speaking. "Slaughter the chicken? I thought I already did yesterday. " I said to myself. I quickly ran to the waste bin where I had kept all the feathers I removed from it but to my disappointment, I couldn't find any.
"Had my chicken risen from the pot?" I thought as I sat down but slowly it became dawn on me that I had only slaughtered and fried the chicken in my dream.
