I hope you are doing well and enjoying your life my friends. I'm so excited to share my perspective and experience about HL Weekly Featured Contents topic STILL WORTH IT for the Week 182: Episode 02.
In today's skill driven world some consider degrees as gateway to opportunities and success while it's a piece of paper for some. I'm a teacher and student at the main time that's why I can't deny the importance of achieving degree. However, I also embrace the importance of learning skills. Degrees without skills and experience is useless.
In the society degree holder is regarded as more trustworthy than skillful person to approach. There are many skillful person who does not get recognition because they don't have degree. While there are many who are thriving in various fields. They're earning more than certified doctor, engineer, businessman and lawyers etc. They're actually proving learning skills matters.
I'm pursuing Business Degree in college as well teaching in a High School. I learn Problem Solving, Management, Teamwork, Leadership. I'm not teaching business to my students but I am am dealing my class as a small organization and applying my skill and learnings. That's how I am pursuing my learnings from school.
In the teenage I joined part time job with in my brother's boutique. I established an Fabric Embroidery Business but it wasn't sustainable to last long. My skills help me to earn my first income in the teenage that's why It's worth achieving for me always. I'm determined to do a boutique clothing business after completion of the degree. I'm sure it will be more helpful for me to affiliate with different clothing brands and business professionally.
It was just today I have a substitution class. During the lecture I noticed the lack of participation of students in discussions. They were more inclined towards cramming the answers. They need to do more practical and practice using various features and functions of MS Office. Honestly I would have never ask my students to cram any answers without actual understanding.
These are the points where our schools and educational institution need to focused and improved. Making children skillful and experienced would assure the bright future not just cramming the answers.
So, the Degree has still worth for me but not everyone.One can thrive, grow and become successful with the skills and hard work but depending on degree without skill is foolishness.
Both degree and skills can't be apart. If degree is gateway to success then skill make it eternal. My friends don't fear to build skill, learn new things and stay adaptable.
