It is funny how some people think it's your obligation to give them whatever they ask of. You did the right thing by giving him your support even though things might not be well with you. He on the other hand was wrong not to appreciate you, maybe he was thinking it's your right to give him whatever he asked for. To some point, I think if you would have said no to Him, he wouldn't have gotten the guts say a word to you.
