This morning was so bright, in fact, the universe gave me the freedom to follow this Myanmar itinerary. There were several temples to visit, one of which had been around since the 1190s. It was truly a beautiful temple when I see it on the map.
There are so many temple in Myanmar, you need to know where you want go and which temples to visit. However, there are some temples that are truly famous, one of which is Sulamani Temple. Why? You can find the answer in my post and read until the end.
First of all, of course, cause Sulamani Temple attracts many pilgrims. Sulamani is known for its 12th-century temple and its so beauty. There are four Buddha statues on each side of the temple, but each Buddha is different. No two are exactly alike, and the purpose of the pilgrimage is different.
One of them is a golden Buddha, smaller than the Buddha statues carve from stone and cement. This temple has also undergone restoration after being destroyed by earthquake in 1990. The most unique thing about the temple walls is the simple inscriptions and carvings that have been there since ancient times. They convey messages about the life of Buddha and also the history of Burmese civilization.
Similar to the stories of Egyptian temples, they carved these to convey messages to the entire nation through ink painted on every corner. Even more than that, even on the ceiling itself, there's a message with pictures and writing. How did this happen? Did they build a ladder to climb up?
At the Solomoni Temple, you can see paintings of demons right on the wall outside the entrance, right at the entrance, and the depictions of demons are truly unique. They're on every door, and they're all different types, perhaps conveying the message that each temple is guarded against demons and that they're prevented from entering?
But from this temple, I realized something. Since the 12th century, every civilization has indeed held a high artistic value for its beliefs. Is that true? They were so strong and dedicated to building places of worship that were so grand, large, and luxurious, they surpassed their own homes.
