Hello everyone
How are you today ? I hope and pray, we are all always given health and also happiness in living this life. I am very happy to finally be give the time and opportunity to be able to participate and contribute to the Architecture+Design Community again. Moment writes down experiences and impressions of various buildings or landmarks that have interesting designs and architectures to be discuss and discussed.
For more than a year I contributed to the Architecture+Design Community, one of my most consistent contents that I wrote was about the design and architecture of cafes, coffee shops and restaurants. For me, writing about the design and architecture of the food and beverage industry is like a pleasure that is hard to define. For the food and beverage industry, the design and architecture of a building will influence the choice of consumers and customers to come to that place.
This time, I will invite my friends to see and discuss the design and architecture of one of the most popular cafes in Medan City, Higher Steps. I've discussed coffee and food from this café a few months ago. Two days ago, I came back to this café and it seems I haven't discussed the concept, design and architecture of Higher Steps Dining. Of course, there have been some changes since my first visit last October.
Higher Steps Dining
I'm having a hard time finding the right term for this place. From my observation, when several times come to this place. Higher Steps is a place to eat that combines a restaurant, café and coffee shop. Higher Steps Dining is located on Sunggal Street, Medan Sunggal District – Medan City. Medan Sunggal District is one of the outermost districts of Medan City, it makes the Higher Steps one of the most instagramable places in Medan Sunggal District.
So, what's interesting about Higher Steps? There are many interesting things. However, let's discuss the selection of interior design and architecture used from this place. Higher Steps Dining is located on the second floor of the Four-floor Building. When we first come, we will be entertained by the receptionist of this restaurant.
My impression is still the same as the first time I came to this place. I always think, why is Higher Steps Dining so beautiful and Instagrammable? I feel like all the things that are used are not wasted.
One of them, is the use of glass as a wall for this building. Higher Steps Dining uses tepal and transparent glass walls for the side walls of this building. This transparent glass wall provides many benefits, such as providing additional light from sunlight. We know, sunlight is natural light that is free. Just imagine, if this building uses stone walls, of course you have to use lights during the day to help light.
In addition, the glass walls also provide an aesthetic experience for visitors who come. As a visitor or customer, you will usually prefer to sit by the window. Therefore, many cafes, restaurants or coffee shops will try to explore this section. In addition, the glass wall also gives a broad impression visually.
Green Concept – Extraordinary Furniture in Indoor Space
When we get to the inside of this place. We will find some interesting sights, namely artificial trees installed in the middle of this restaurant. This place is very unique and always makes people notice when they are inside. Yup, who would have thought of installing an artificial tree in the room and in the middle of the cafe. Usually, plant decorations are used in the corners of rooms to cover empty spots in buildings. A unique view for me.
As I said at the beginning. Higher Steps Dining combines a café, restaurant and coffee shop. Therefore, every place must be comfortable, elegant but also chozy. Selection of furniture and interior concepts must be flexible and able to adapt to circumstances. Like last February, Higher Steps Dining uses the concept of a fine dining restaurant for the evening, with a romantic dinner experience.
The flexibility of this concept interior can be seen from the selection of furniture used in this place. One of them, a blue sofa chair with a ¾ circle shape combined with a round table. This seat area is also combined with the artificial trees around it, it looks very beautiful and also aesthetically pleasing to look at.
In addition, we will find a variety of very beautiful tables and chairs. Like the blue sofa chairs that are arranged longer. The blue seat is combined with an aesthetic round wooden table and chairs. This furniture looks very casual but also very elegant for visitors who come. We can also find chairs made of a combination of wood and rattan at Higher Steps which makes this café concept even more unique and telling a story.
One thing I noticed and compared from my visit a few months ago was that currently, there are more tables and chairs used by the Higher Steps. The position between the tables is also tighter when compared to several months. This is probably due to the implementation of the health protocol which has been revoked by the government. So, I think it's not too much of a problem, because it's still in comfortable boundary conditions.
Outdoor Space from Higher Steps Fine Dining
Next, I invite my friends to see the outdoor space area from Higher Steps Dining. The Outdoor Space Area of Higher Steps is on the balcony of the second floor of this building. In this outdoor section, we will find an interesting area, namely graffiti and paintings that are mounted on the walls.
This graffiti uses an urban design style that fits perfectly with the concept of this outdoor room. I think there are also many visitors who use this graffiti or painting as a photo background.
Outdoor space from Higher Steps uses a more casual and relaxed concept. We can see from the choices and concepts of furniture used. In the outdoor section, Higher Steps uses a furniture arrangement pattern with one table with four chairs or one table with eight chairs. So, we can conclude that outdoor space is used by communal visitors or large groups.
Furniture such as tables and chairs that are used are also more relaxed. We will find wooden tables or glass tables that are casual and enjoyable. I like to see the design of one of the iron chairs in this place, it looks very aesthetic to me. Okay, that's all my review and story about the design and architecture of Higher Steps Dining. See you in my other posts.
