My adventure through the north of Spain continues, here in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country I have discovered a truly kind, cheerful and hard-working people, where kindness and excellent tourist services allow us to enjoy truly unforgettable experiences, it is in this way that traveling the beautiful roads I have been able to discover hundreds of places that I have found fantastic, But today I want to tell you about a town called Durango, which is located a short distance from the Urkiola National Park and where I could have fulfilled one of my greatest dreams, which was to walk the streets of a place born during medieval times, as I discovered on this trip the records of its founding date back to the early years of the thirteenth century.

Conociendo Durango, Un Lugar Mágico
Continúa mi Aventura por el norte de España, aquí en la Comunidad Autónoma del País Vasco he descubierto a un pueblo verdaderamente bondadoso, alegre y profundamente trabajador, en donde la amabilidad y los excelentes servicios turísticos nos permiten disfrutar al máximo de experiencias verdaderamente inolvidables, es de esta forma como recorriendo las hermosas carreteras he podido descubrir cientos de lugares que me han parecido fantásticos, pero hoy les quiero contar sobre un pueblo denominado Durango, el cual se encuentra a poca distancia del Parque Nacional de Urkiola y en donde pude haber cumplido uno de mis más grandes sueños, el cual era recorrer las calles de un lugar nacido durante la época medieval, ya que según pude descubrir en este viaje los registros de su fundación se remontan a los primeros años del siglo XIII.
To contextualize geographically I must indicate that Durango is a municipality belonging to the province of Vizcaya in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, in the region of Duranguesado, I must admit that I am still not very familiar with this type your territorial order, but little by little I try to understand and enjoy it, returning to our topic Durango is a location that has a population that surely exceeds 29,000 inhabitants and an area of just over 10 square kilometers, as for its main economic activities I realized that this is a town that stands out as a tourist destination, but at the same time has an industrial sector whose roots go back many centuries ago.
Para contextualizarnos geográficamente les debo indicar que Durango es un municipio perteneciente a la provincia de Vizcaya en la comunidad Autónoma del País Vasco, en la Comarca del Duranguesado, debo admitir que aún no estoy muy familiarizado con este tipo tu ordenamiento territorial, pero poco a poco trato de entenderlo y disfrutarlo, volviendo a nuestro tema Durango es una locación que cuenta con una población que seguramente supera los 29,000 habitantes y una superficie de un poco más de 10 kilómetros cuadrados, en cuanto a sus principales actividades económicas me di cuenta que esta es una villa que destaca por ser un destino turístico, pero que al mismo tiempo cuenta con un sector industrial cuyas raíces Se remontan muchos siglos atrás.
Once we have understood these characteristics we can enjoy a totally magical tour, where the sidewalks and buildings made of stone mark a very characteristic style in this area, it is a novel architecture before my eyes, as it differs greatly from what I had normally seen, so I stopped in front of many buildings just to contemplate every detail, The truth is that I walked through those streets as if it were the corridors of the museum, for me this was a truly great experience, also thanks to the fact that this trip was without haste and without itineraries I could have the privilege of enjoying my way and my time, which allowed me to know in depth many realities, curiosities and stories that hides this historic Villa.
Una vez que hemos entendido estas características podemos disfrutar de un recorrido totalmente mágico, en donde las aceras y construcciones realizadas en piedra marcan un estilo muy característico en esta zona, se trata de una arquitectura novedosa ante mis ojos, ya que difiere mucho de lo que había visto normalmente, por lo tanto me detuve frente a muchos edificios solamente para contemplar cada detalle, la verdad caminaba por esas calles como si se tratara de los pasillos del museo, para mí esta fue una experiencia verdaderamente genial, además gracias a que este viaje iba sin apuros y sin itinerarios pude tener el privilegio de disfrutar a mi manera y a mi tiempo, lo cual me permitió conocer a fondo muchas realidades, curiosidades e historias que esconde esta histórica Villa.
One of the things that has caught my attention in these beautiful villages in Spain today is that although most of them date from many centuries ago and their buildings are mostly historical, the commercial establishments that make life in them have managed to adapt new technologies for the benefit of tourism and at the same time to make life easier for the inhabitants of these places, all this while preserving the historical value and without leaving traces on the vestiges of a past that generates thousands of visitors every day, personally I think this is a good experience that should be applied in all countries of the world.
Una de las cosas que me ha llamado mucho la atención en estos lindos pueblos de la España actual es que a pesar de que en su mayoría datan de hace muchos siglos y sus construcciones en su mayoría son históricas, los locales comerciales que hacen vida en ellas han sabido adaptar las nuevas tecnologías para el beneficio turístico y al mismo tiempo para facilitarle la vida a los pobladores de estos lugares, todo esto preservando el valor histórico y sin dejar huellas sobre los vestigios de un pasado que genera miles de visitas cada día, personalmente creo que esta es una buena experiencia que debería ser aplicada en todos los países del mundo.
Another thing that I find very incredible is to see how nature has a different facet in every place in the world, for example here in Durango witness a sky unmatched blue, where the depth of color and the total absence of clouds left me shocked, as this is a scenario virtually unthinkable in a tropical area like where I come from, also the solar incidence is also very different, since it has a natural brightness that really spectacular and which makes it much easier to work to capture incredible photographs.
Otra cosa que me parece muy increíble es ver cómo la naturaleza tiene una faceta distinta en cada lugar del mundo, por ejemplo acá en Durango presenciar un cielo inigualablemente azul, en donde la profundidad del color y la total ausencia de nubes me dejó impactado, ya que este es un escenario prácticamente impensable en un área tropical como la de dónde vengo, además la incidencia solar también es muy diferente, ya que la misma presenta un brillo natural que realmente espectacular y con el cual se hace mucho más fácil la labor de captar fotografías increíbles.
In general terms I can realize that the walls of the city of Durango are a little gray, as the stone, red bricks and ocher color are very typical in the facades of buildings and houses, but incredibly to break this monotony I could find dozens of pots inside which were plants with beautiful and beautiful flowers of different colors that simulated the greenery of the leaves generate a truly unique contrast, where you can enjoy a climate full of energy and a scenario that seems out of fairy tales.
En términos generales me puede dar cuenta de que las paredes de la ciudad de Durango son un poco grises, ya que la piedra, los ladrillos rojos y el color ocre son muy típicos en las fachadas de las edificaciones y casas, pero increíblemente para romper esta monotonía me pude encontrar con decenas de macetas en cuyo interior se encontraban plantas con lindas y hermosas flores de diferentes colores que simado al verdor de las hojas generan un contraste realmente único, en donde se puede disfrutar de un clima lleno de energía y un escenario que pareciera salida de cuentos de hadas.
At this point of the tour we must understand that Durango is not an isolated municipality, because it is located in a suburb with others, where Yurreta stands out, to understand the exact limits between them we must emphasize that Durango is located on the left bank of the Ibaizabal River, and at the same time this small town is crossed by dozens of other streams among which the Malaria Ibaia stands out, this situation gives the whole place a fresh appearance, full of vitality and with very beautiful landscapes.
A estas alturas del recorrido Debemos entender que Durango no se trata de un municipio aislado, pues el mismo se encuentra conurbado con otros, en donde se destaca Yurreta, para entender un poco los límites exactos entre ambos debemos destacar que Durango se encuentra en la Ribera izquierda del Río Ibaizabal, y al mismo tiempo esta pequeña Villa se encuentra surcada por decenas de otros riachuelos entre los cuales sobresale el Malaria Ibaia, esta situación que todo el lugar adquiera un aspecto fresco, lleno de vitalidad y con paisajes muy lindos.
Walking through the center of Durango we can enjoy incredible architectural elements, among which we can highlight the Plaza de Santa Ana, from where we can appreciate the arch of Santa Ana, which is a real jewel of heritage of the Basque country, since it dates from 1566, but what we can see today with baroque style was built in 1743 and represents the only fortified gates that remains standing of the ancient wall that surrounded the town. On the other side of the square and just in front of the Arch we can find the church of Santa Ana, which with its impressive height, the robustness that gives the sacred baroque style and its incredible facade blocks of stone, give us an impressive architectural work, which dates from the fifteenth century but over the years was undergoing various modifications, I particularly believe that this square and all this scenery are the most incredible place in Durango because it is here where you can breathe an atmosphere full of history and you can enjoy an urban landscape that takes us back many centuries ago.
Al caminar por el pleno centro de Durango podemos disfrutar de elementos arquitectónicos increíbles, de entre los cuales podemos destacar la Plaza de Santa Ana, desde donde podemos Apreciar el arco de Santa Ana, el cual se trata de una verdadera Joya patrimonial del país Vasco, ya que la misma data de 1566, pero lo que podemos observar hoy en día con estilo barroco fue construida en 1743 y representa la única de las puertas fortificadas que queda en pie de la antigua muralla que rodeaba a la villa. Del otro lado de la plaza y justo enfrente del Arco podemos encontrar a la iglesia de Santa Ana, la cual con su impresionante altura, la robustez que le brinda el estilo sacro barroco y su increíble fachada bloques de piedra, nos regalan una obra arquitectónica impresionante, la cual Data del siglo XV pero que a lo largo de los años fue sufriendo diversas modificaciones, es de esta forma como la que podemos ver hoy en día es el resultado de la reconstrucción realizada en el siglo XVIII, particularmente creo que esta plaza y todo este escenario son el lugar más increíble de Durango ya que es aquí en donde se puede respirar un ambiente lleno de historia y se puede disfrutar de una paisaje urbano que nos remonta muchos siglos atrás.
Having the opportunity to know and visit Durango was a truly unique experience, since I learned a lot about the history of the Basque Country, I could enjoy its restaurants and cafes, I could share with its people, I was able to fulfill a dream and I enjoyed this adventure to the fullest, later I hope to visit the countryside and also to admire the other side of a people whose roots were forged in the heat of the sun and with the work of the field. Tener la oportunidad de conocer y recorrer Durango fue una experiencia verdaderamente única, ya que aprendí mucho sobre la historia del País Vasco, pude disfrutar de sus restaurantes y cafés, pude compartir con su gente, logré cumplir un sueño y disfruté al máximo de esta aventura, más adelante espero recorrer la campiña y así también poder admirar la otra cara de un pueblo cuyas raíces se forjaron al calor del sol y con el trabajo del campo. ¡Saludos y abrazos para todo!
