Reflection Hunters Contest ~ Round 105: Reflection of the provincial museum
Hello, friends! Today I want to present you a reflection of the building of the first building of the museum of my hometown of Minusinsk.
Along the way, I will try to tell you about the history of the museum of a small Siberian city.
The museum was founded by pharmacist Nikolai Martyanov in 1877.
In the 19th century, Minusinsk was a place of exile for political opponents of the tsarist government and at the same time one of the centers of gold mining in Siberia. In addition, the Minusinsk district, which included the territory of modern Khakassia, was a concentration of archaeological sites: people have lived here since ancient times. A young pharmacist, Nikolai Martyanov, after graduating from Moscow University, was obsessed with the idea of creating a museum, and the Minusinsk pharmacy needed a pharmacist. Nikolai Martyanov came to Minusinsk in 1774 and infected the locals with his idea of creating a museum. Merchants and industrialists donated money, peasants, hunters and townspeople carried various artifacts and in 1877 the museum was opened.
At first, the museum was located in several rooms of the local gymnasium, but soon there was not enough space for the arriving exhibits and the city Duma decided to build a special building for the museum. In 1890, this building was built.
The collections of the museum were awarded at exhibitions: in Florence in 1885, at the Siberian-Ural Exhibition in Yekaterinburg in 1887, the All-Russian Industrial Exhibition in Nizhny Novgorod in 1896, the World Exhibition in Chicago in 1893, at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900.
The first building houses the archaeological and ethnographic collections of the museum. One of the most interesting, in my opinion, exhibits are the death masks of the Tashtyk archaeological culture, these are plaster masks of real people who lived two thousand years ago.
The unusual shape of the knives of the Karasuk archaeological culture makes us wonder about their purpose three and a half thousand years ago.
Mysterious, fantastic drawings on the steles of the Okunev culture take us five thousand years into the past.
And about the reflections of the museum, we can say that now it is no longer there, a year ago the square in front of the museum was laid with tiles, and through it the water leaves without lingering.
