Lonely swan | Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 159
Hello, fellow bird lovers.
Usually, while walking along the shore of Lake Naroch, I saw two or more swans. But that day a lone swan swam on the surface of the lake.
It was the month of May, perhaps the female of this swan was hatching eggs in the nest. It is not for nothing that people have legends about swan fidelity - these birds form lifelong monogamous pairs. I hope that nothing happened to this swan’s beloved and that after a while they will swim together, surrounded by a bunch of little swans.
The story of the whispering swan is full of optimism. A rare and endangered species in the mid-twentieth century, after a complete ban on swan hunting in the USSR in the 1960s, the number of birds began to quickly recover. Currently, swans are not in danger of extinction, and these birds are excluded from the Red Book of Belarus.
