Many have succeeded in funding Crowfunding. For startup founders, crowdfunding is a way to enter the pre-sale stage of a product or service, which can also be used to test the market.

Aaron Harris from Y Combinator said that crowdfunding is the most useful way for entrepreneurs engaged in the realm of "hardware or creative thinking". He took the example of the Kickstarter campaign for Pebble smartwatch, which broke the Kickstarter funding record at the time.

Then according to Peyton Worley, from Cooley LLP, one of the benefits of crowdfunding is that there are no "investors" who are shareholders in your company, so you can maintain equity in the form of value for money - while raising capital to lift your company.
