The aerospace industry ranks among world's largest manufacturing industries. This industry has major contribution in employment and value out. Career in aerpspace sector is challenging and rocking. Aerospace industry was totally covered by government agency or government funded agencies. But some startups open the door for the private sector in this industry. SpaceX is the biggest example for this. Elon Musk revolutionised the aerospace industry for the private sector. This industry will give next multi billion valued startups.
After the establishment of SpaceX there is increasing number of entrepreneurs have started their own aerospace sartups. The young entrepreneurs want to make space available for everyone and send people to Mars and Moon.
Indian gain much attention by the successful launch of the Mangalyaan in first attempt. ISRO spent Rs 450 carore on Mangalyaan which is one tenth of NASA's Maven explorer in 2013. This has been a major source of inspiration for the entrepreneur to start their own company.
Here is some aerospace startups gaining the height in aerospace industry.
1. Earth2Orbit
Earth2Orbit is an Indian startup founded by Sushmita Mohanty with the aim of transporting human to Moon and Mars. They are working on concept space mission simulator, prototype of living capsules and spacesuit for future astronaut. They also offer launch advisery and consulting services remote sensing value added products to the government. E2O first client was Osaka Institute of Technology, Japan. They launched first client satellite onboard on a PSLV in fall 2012. The payload was 15 kg microsatellite called PROITERES-1 built by OIT.
2. SpacePharma
SpacePharma is launching a Cubesat which is a type of miniaturized satellite, aboard a SpaceX rocket. They are conducting biomedical and pharmaceutical research with mGifny lab in microgravitional condition. The startup is begin with a mission to become leader in end to end microgravitional service and simple valued solution.
3. Planetary Resources
Planetry Resources is an asteroid mining starup. This startup has received €25 million from Luxembourg. Google founder is also investing in this startup. Planetry Resources plans their first mission by 2020. This startup also developing sensor to detect minerals like water, fuel and metal on the asteroid.
4. Rocket Lab
Rocket Lab emerging rapidly in last year. This is one of the biggest competitor of SpaceX. Rocket Lab has developed an turboprop engine Rutherford with 4600lbf. New Zealand government grants upto $5 million in matching investment for R&D. Company doesn't disclosed about how much funding they received. Bessemer Venture Partners, Lockheed Martin, K1W1, and Khosla Ventures have invested in the startup.
The Aerospace industry is seeing a lot of great startup that will make improve space exploration and collect resources from space. An aerospace startup need large amount of capital so entrepreneur show less interest in this field but scenario is changed. Funding from the various companies make easier to start a company.
