This is a series of posts recounting our adventures in traveling and camping.
After a few hours driving north back to Michigan, we arrived at the campground we had left the previous day. We were greeted warmly and suggested a few good spots to set up camp - they were great spots for location (near bathrooms and other campers), but the ground wasn't level.
We chose a level spot at the back of the campground.
Between our large tent and parking the bus, we took up THREE RV spots. Tent camping at an RV park is tricky, but not impossible. It would have been expensive renting three spots for twelve days, especially over two weekends. What an incredible blessing!
Everyone helped set up camp, even my littlest one put firewood in the pit for us.
We set up our booth beside our tent and got it set up for dining and cooking. The command is "live in booths", so this was a perfect way to both live in and invite others also to enjoy our booth.
We found that keeping it neat and tidy went a long way towards enjoying the spot.
The next morning we enjoyed scrambled eggs and fresh ground flour bread from our gracious hosts!
The children discovered the playground and enjoyed playing "restaurant".
It was Friday and were were spending the day finishing up the campsite, exploring a bit and preparing for Sabbath.
The children decided to make their own campfire. With some help from daddy, they got the fires started and they roasted little beef smokies over the flames. It was a nice snack before diner!
We enjoyed breaking bread in our booth, the Sukkah and welcomed in the Sabbath!
The festival begins at sundown from this day and commences for seven days, plus an eighth day, although we were staying longer to pack up and return home.
We were feeling pretty comfortable and adjusting quickly to our new environment. The weather was very warm for Michigan in late September, we found ourselves wearing our "down south" clothing.
We were off to a great start for this week of camping with the family!
