The artwork on these old notes always amazes me. They were very ornate, they often featured women and children, posed showing prosperity and industry. Also agriculture and artistry.

These are "Canal Bank" notes, traded for money to fund the canals of the mid 19th century.

The twenty note above features women and children around a giant "20". The women look to be angels with wings!

On the Fifty, there is a young woman hanging out at the docks thinking about something profound.

The reverse are pretty boring, the FIVE note is blank!

I remember purchasing these for less than face value, the historical value and artistic value of these notes make it worth collecting.

This is truly a piece of history.
