My Entry to the Daddy Kirbs Favorite Video

NO MONETIZATION FOR YOU! YouTube is demonetizing low-volume channels!

So YouTube is finally doing it. Not only are they demonetizing channels with which they have philosophical issues with, or label as 'hate speech' or do not politically align with their 'progressive' values... now they are demonetizing ANY channel that has less than 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours in the last 12 months. YouTube is encouraging small channels to leave, essentially saying "Go find somewhere else to profit from your video content", and 'We don't want you" and "We don't need you"

What is Youtube's endgame?

I believe their goal is to eventually convert the YouTube website to YouTube Red, an internet cable television syndicate. All 'amateur' videos are going to eventually be purged to make way for 'advertisement-free' content, only available for a monthly fee. They want to compete with Netflix and Amazon Prime subscription model. They want to become the new 'cable', the new 'main-stream media', as people are pulling the plug on their television cable in record numbers.

What is YouTube Red?

According to Wikipedia:

YouTube Red is a paid streaming subscription service exclusively for YouTube in the United States, Australia, Mexico, New Zealand and South Korea. It provides advertising-free streaming of all videos hosted by YouTube, offline play and background playback of videos on mobile devices, access to advertising-free music streaming through Google Play Music, and access to "YouTube Red Original" series and films.

So what can we do? Support small homesteading channels!

To support these homesteading channels, become a subscriber. Watch a few of their videos all the way through, even in the background if needed. Leave encouraging comments and develop a dialog with the content providers. This will help them to gain a following and grow to a level where Youtube will consider them for monetization. These are good channels and they are worth your attention.

Another platform option? Really?

We all know what we're talking about here. What YouTube alternative allows content monetization with no overbearing central administration? No annoying advertisements? Hmmm...

I think STEEMIT may be the answer. (you guessed it, fellow Steemians!) More specifically, d.tube, which uses the steemit blockchain to create a YouTube alternative

Why I selected this video for my entry.

YouTube is going down the tubes and the faster people move away from that centralized platform and onto decentralized platforms (like d.tube) the quicker the overall internet transformation becomes. The beauty of the internet is the ability to express your thoughts and advice without intervention, but when we are guests at another's home (YouTube), we abide by "house rules". A decentralized platform means that the "house rules" have become "self-regulated rules". If people don't like what your doing, you will be unwelcome, otherwise anything goes.

I selected this video because it encourages homesteading YouTubers to continue with their channel and to grow. Also it offers an invitation to 'make the switch' to a platform that will reward them financially, no matter the content, or the audience size.
