All brands of smartphone are expensive.

Google owns Android Inc. Android is the chief competitor of Apple's iOS. Both Google and Apple have evolved into international corporations. I don't really buy the argument that Android is better than Apple because Apple has roots in the US and Google does not.

As for the phone market in the US. Android based phones and iOS phones are usually competitive in price. Apple is only slightly more expensive. All cellphones depreciate at a fast rate according to this report.

I don't like old Apples because Apple is notorious for planned obsolescence. Of course the other cell phone manufacturers play the same game. Smart phones should not be seen as long term investments.
