My post was just free form rambling about the difference between the way Dawkins used the term and the Internet meme. If any of my random thoughts inspired a post ... go for it.

The article by judicious is a great example of tag spam. It had nothing to do with CENT or INFORMATIONWAR.

The picture appears to be an uncredited stock-photo and clearly is not a meme.

There is a strong argument that music itself is a meme. Music is a device that conveys culture. But, Judicious did not make that argument. He clearly was just dropping every money making tag to get alt-coins.

Arguing that the use of POB was tag spam is more difficult. Music affects the brain; so I guess it is relevant to POB.

The copyright issue is the most interesting issue involved in both Dawkins style and Internet memes. This is because memetics is a study of the way that ideas are copied through a culture.

In someways, the image is secondary. The determining factor of whether something is a meme is if the something gets copied.

The definition of what is and what is not a "meme" is likely to change with time and is like to be different on different platforms.

The same is true of spam. A lot of the behavior that takes place on Twitter would be considered spam on HIVE
