I just penned my third review in the Outsider Look at HIVE series. The reason I am creating this series of unsolicited reviews is because I believe that the HIVE ecosystem could benefit from a few unsolicited links.

There is a growing number of "tribal sites" associated with HIVE. These sites tend to have a basic implementation of the hive.blog code and show posts for a select number of keywords.

Some of the HIVE tribes are doing quite well like ProofOfBrain and LeoFinance.io. However I think it is wise for new users of HIVE to examine some of the tribes that are struggling before investing in HIVE.

So, I decided to look at Traffic Insider. This tribe has the domain TrafficInsider.org. The tribe supplements HIVE rewards on posts with the keyword #trafficinsider with the TIX token.

The blurb for the site says the tribe is dedicated to helping web sites build web traffic. The site itself lacks a about page that describes how TrafficInsider will help web sites achieve this goal. The posts by created date shows a string of posts by people hoping to earn TIX tokens. None of them were about building web traffic.

The Trading Page for TIX on LEOdex shows that the highest bid is for 0.000031. CoinGecko told me that HIVE was trading at $0.314. A TIX token is currently worth 0.000009734. A thousand TIX is worth less than a penny.

The site showed no trades for TIX in the last 24 hours.

NOTE: I bought 11,190 TIX for 0.3880 HIVE with my personal account yintercept@yintercept. 10K in TIX makes my upvote worth 90 TIX. This experiment gives me a good idea of what it would be like to be a whale account. My upvote spews forth with tokens. Unfortunately, in this case, the tokens are worth very little.

So, What Went Wrong?

I think that creating a web site to help web masters build traffic is a great idea. The mere fact that I am writing unsolicited reviews proves that I care about helping sites build web traffic.

The lack of relevant posts on trafficinsider.org and lack of trades for the TIX token indicates that something has gone wrong with this tribe.

I think we can see what went wrong by examining the TIX Richlist on Hive-Engine Explorer. If you sorted this richlist by staked token, you would see that top 10 accounts control 99% of the staked tokens. If you listed the token by unstaked; you would see a large number of accounts ready to dump the token.

Returning to trafficinsider.org. The small number of investors who own the token upvote each other's accounts. The insiders at TrafficInsider seem to be getting 32,000 TIX for their posts. Some of the posts are simple tweet style posts with little content.

Perhaps trafficinsider is just a game to give a few insiders a huge number of coins!?

Anyway, I think that HIVE investors are wise to examine some of the struggling coins before investing in more popular alt-coins.

The first problem I see with trafficinsider is that the site does not appear to have a focus. The biggest problem is with the poor distribution of the staked coins. If the top ten account control 99% of the coin, then the distribution or rewards will be too far askewed for the coin to have any value outside the insider group.

For the picture I walked to an overpass and snapped a photo of cars on an interstate highway.
