In the past couple days, we kept celebrating birthdays and holiday, a lot of hard works on losing weight this year might be gone, probably gained back 2 lbs. Couple more days to New Year, we will get together with friends again, so I am better to play more pickle ball to lose a lot of calories.
Holidays mean celebrating, family gathering together, and be happy. My parents, my niece, and nephew drove 6 hours to visit us. I have not seen my old parents for a while. I missed them! My mom loved me the most among her three children. She brought me the goodies that she made, like dry persimmons, yellow skin fruit, dry lemons... Dad marinated a duck and brought over because his grandkids said they loved it a lot. He would roast it after arrived.
A day before Christmas was my niece's birthday. My kids get alone with her very well. These three girls got together and chatted after 12am the last three nights. My daughter made a cake for her birthday. They went to mall together to bought her a gift that she liked. I am jealous!
Eating hotpot has been my family Christmas tradition. I just bought and prepared all the ingredients, and they cooked for themselves. Is it easy? I usually bought some crabs for hotpot, but instead bought a big lobster this year. The lobster costed $12.99 per pound and crab $13.99. The crab season will be opened here a day before New Year, so we can wait to have crab with half price later.
Kids had a mini hotpot and grill and ate on the island. They ate very simple, two types of vegetables and some pork and beef, called a day. All adults were eating on the table. We enjoyed seafood, a lot of veggies and different meals, also drank some red wines. I really treasured the holiday time spending with my parents. Dad is 82 now.
A day after Christmas, it's another birthday celebration, my turn. This time I wanted to have a ice cream cake because I knew someone liked it. Daughters never mentioned making a cake for me. I bought an Iwatch as my birthday gift this year, so I couldn't ask more from him.
All these celebrations are over, my parents will leave until couple more days later. I feel like a kid surrounding them, no need to do cooking, housework because mom says she takes over. She wants to give me a break. In this world, who can do that for me! Feel so lucky having them!
