I only stop over in Bali to head over to Lombok next door. Sometimes the flights are cheaper than the ferries. Lombok is an amazing place to explore by scooter. Only a tiny fraction of the traffic you find in south Bali and amazing empty beaches. Less choice of restaurants though, but I think there are too many in Bali anyways.
