Barbuda Frigate Bird Colony

I love Barbuda. It is remote and isolated. This shot has storms rolling in over our small sailing yacht SV Cirrus on the remote North West coastline.

Barbuda is home to the largest frigate bird colony in the western hemisphere. I have seen seasonal population estimates varying between 5,000 to 10,000 birds for the colony which travels between the Eastern Caribbean and the Galapagos islands during the varying mating cycles.

It is certainly something to experience to see them in mating season when the males have their distinctive red gular pouch inflated to attract females. I could not choose between these two shots so I am posting both of them. Let me know which one you like best and why?
