Habit is such a thing which is not so easy to change because it's something we get used to, and trying to change it all of a sudden is quite difficult. If anyone tries to change a habit, it should be a gradual process; we need to start with small changes. In fact, most of the changes in life happen in that way does not matter if it is something intentional or unintentional. The only difference is that when it's intentional, we know that we are going to change, and in the case of unintentional change, it remains unknown to us. It's the same when we are trying to build a habit also.

In life there are some changes that are necessary and we can’t make the changes immediately. It’s like we can’t make a drug addicted person into a normal person in a single day. The changes start with little, but they leave long term impact. At the beginning one person needs to reduce the amount of drug and slowly and gradually the amount decreases with time and most of the time it takes six to twelve months to overcome addiction. If it was possible, people could be normal withing a single night. So, we need to make small changes to build a habit or change a habit.

At the present time I think I have a bad habit of going to sleep late and it’s not a good thing for my health. At the present time it may not have any negative impact but it’s actually harming me from the inside physically and psychologically. Besides, at the present time I am not doing something for what I need to stay awake. I mean I can do those tasks that I do in the nighttime can be done in the next morning. So, why should I do something that actually harming me. So, at the present time I am trying to build the habit of sleeping early.

I am like robot and I can instantly try to go to sleep before 12:00 a.m. and I tried it also and I was quite successful, but I noticed that in a month 6/7 days I went to sleep late and when I went to sleep it was nearly 5:00 a.m. and I believe it happened all of my activities were not so easy to finish within the time I went to sleep. And the delay of 6/7 days was for finishing those tasks. So, I adapted to my habit of sleeping early but for the sudden changes my tasks made me stay awake for those days. So, I just changed my approach.

In the past I used to go to sleep after 4:00 and I started to reduce the time of 5 minutes each day. It’s like I go to sleep at 4:00 a.m. in the next day I went to sleep at 3:55 and the next day it was 3:50 like that. Sometimes I failed to maintain it but slowly I got used to it and slowly it started to improve. I think that going to sleep early 5 minutes ago is not so difficult if we want. And now I go to sleep before 2:00 a.m. which is an improvement. My work and body already adapted to it and now I don’t need to stay awake for tasks till 4:00 a.m. or 5:00 a.m. It’s improving with time and I want to bring it at 12:00 a.m. and I think the day is not far.

You may be curious why I am trying to build the habit. I think I have clear answer about it. Firstly, it’s purely for both my physical and mental health. In the future I have plans to go for morning walk if I become successful at going to sleep at 12:00 a.m. because morning weather is quite refreshing and relaxing. I enjoy the morning walk also as I used to go for morning walk after one day intervals in the past. Additionally, I am trying to find an office job and, in the future, I will get one if fate allows and for the office job I need to wake up early and I don’t need to face difficulties related to health for sleeping issues and that’s why I am trying to be careful.
