I ask this question of myself everyday.
Everyday when you wake up, you awaken as a totally new person compared to the person you were the previous day. Some people may say that is not a true statement, I suppose that it depends on how you look at things really.
I prefer to face the new day totally fresh, trying my best to have a positive mental attitude... after coffee of course. Life is just too short to be negative, and have a crappy outlook on things. I make it a point to meditate on things that I am grateful for, daily.
As soon as you peel those eyeballs open, you have a choice to make. Are you going to strive to be a good person this day, or bad? Are you going to be kind and treat people with respect, or treat them like crap and be disrespectful?
You have to give respect to receive respect, it's a two way street. The energy you put out is exactly what you receive in kind. Today I have chosen to be a decent human.
Here is the rundown. 😉
I woke up at 5:10 a.m., got my coffee made and fired up my computer. While I wait for it to boot up, I always take the time to reflect on the past day. It's a quiet time for me early in the morning, with no interruptions to worry about, unless you count my cat Storm meowing at me for fresh food.
Everyone else is still asleep, and I complete my morning rituals without issue. I am in a great mood thus far.
After attending the discord meeting in @thealliance castle, I had to run a few errands, plus do some grocery shopping. My mission was almost complete, as I had just left the last store on my list. I was at the light waiting to make a turn, and a big white SUV pulled right behind me, a little to close for my tastes... it is what it is.
As I sit waiting patiently for the light to turn green, the SUV hit my car in the rear end. The impact was light, and it caused my head to hit the headrest a little bit. But enough to make me go... WTF! 😫
I motioned for the woman driving the SUV to follow me to the parking lot across the street, so we could assess the damage. I got out of my car to took a peek. She was very nervous and obviously shaken, and apologized for hitting my car. She said that her foot slipped off of the brake pedal, and she didn't mean for it to happen.
I let her know that everything is going to be okay, just try to relax.. it's all good.
We took a minute to look at both vehicles, looking for any signs of damage. As it turns out, there was none. She offered to call the police, or at the very least exchange insurance information with me. I let her know that it wasn't necessary, neither of us were hurt.
I told her everything was cool, and to be careful going home. She said thank you very much, and we went our separate ways.
I could have been a complete ass and give her a hard time, calling the police and the insurance company. I prefer to not act that way, whenever possible. There are enough people in the world ready to pounce on you for the slightest mistake, there is no need for me to join that crowd.
Forgiveness can go along to make the world a better place. You can forgive others for their transgressions, and you can forgive yourself past mistakes as well. Everyone makes mistakes.
Acknowledge your past mistakes, do your best not to repeat them, and move on.
As long as you aren't trying to hurt me and mine, we can work it out. Don't get it twisted though, I can be a dangerous person when I need to be. I choose not to act that way.
Every day is a new day. How you act during this new day, is a choice.
Choose wisely, human.
