Depends on the degree of claustrophobia, but they generally give calming meds until they can sort out a more amenable treatment plan.

In order of severity:

  1. Calming medication, or surrounding screen(s) to give the illusion of open spaces
  2. Some variation of virtuality
  3. Keeping the drawer open so the patient can see a more open space [can be inconvenient if the ICU space for inspection and treatment is a little tight]
  4. Going to the extreme of having a bed.

It might be noted that space travel and claustrophobia don't always mix well, so it's a pretty rare circumstance.

...considering how Pax Humanis solve problems, the comparison is pretty apt.
